Railways’ Big Green Leap
Indian Railways is all set to introduce its first hydrogen-powered train, marking a significant step toward eco-friendly transportation. The train is expected to begin trials by the end of this year and will operate on the Jind-Sonipat route in the Delhi Division.

- Hydrogen for Heritage Initiative: Plans to run 35 hydrogen trains on heritage and hilly routes.
- Budget Allocation: ₹2800 crore for hydrogen trains and ₹600 crore for developing related infrastructure on select routes.

- Energy-efficient HOG technology and LED lighting in trains.
- Installation of solar plants at stations and railways’ properties.
- Project to retrofit diesel DEMU trains with hydrogen fuel cells under a ₹111.83 crore contract.
