Indian Railway Tatkal Ticket New Booking Rules:  To prevent last-minute confusion and missed journeys, Indian Railways is planning to make significant changes to the Tatkal ticket booking process beginning on April 15. These changes will impact booking timings, payment methods, cancellation policies, and quotas, and they are intended to curb misuse and streamline the ticket reservation process.

New Tatkal Booking Timings From April 15

The updated Tatkal ticket booking hours are among the most significant modifications. The modified timings are given in the following table according to class type:

Direct passenger access is given priority under the new time system, which also stops travel agents from making reservations during the crucial first two hours.


Process For Booking Tatkal Tickets

For increased efficiency, the Tatkal ticket booking procedure on the IRCTC website and mobile app has also been updated. The following are the primary steps to take under the new system:

- Access the IRCTC mobile app or website at www.irctc.co.in.

- Choose the train and class that you want (AC/Non-AC).

- From the drop-down menu, choose the "Tatkal" quota.

- Enter the ID proof number and the passenger's data.

- Go to the payment page and finish the reservation


New Changes In Booking Process

- Auto-filled passenger details for registered users to save time

- Payment timeout increased from 3 minutes to 5 minutes

- Captcha verification simplified to reduce booking errors

- Unified login system for both app and website


Key Points To Remember

- A maximum of 4 passengers can be booked under one Tatkal PNR.

- No concession is applicable under Tatkal quota.

- ID proof is mandatory at the time of travel.
