 India approves 8th Central Pay Commission:   These employees can expect salary hike from   2026



The government has approved the setting up of the 8th Central Pay Commission. They plan to conduct extensive consultations with the Centre, states, and public sector undertakings (PSUs) as part of the process.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw clarified that the decision to form the 8th Pay Commission was not part of the formal agenda but received approval from the PM.


The recommendations from the 8th Pay Commission are expected to be implemented by 2026. The commission will be headed by a chairman and will include two members.

The move aims to overhaul pay structures for central government employees, ensuring alignment with economic and administrative priorities.
